Purpose of Job

Weakley County Schools understands that physical education is vital to school culture and student success. The effective PE teacher should plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in the learning environment that guides and encourages students to fulfill their academic potential and enrich the school experience.

 

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

·         Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons that align to state standards and facilitate active learning within the district curriculum.

 

·         Develop schemes of work, assessments, and grading in accordance with established procedures

 

·         Instruct and monitor students in the use of PE equipment

 

·         Engage ALL students in physical activity that is appropriate for their skills and abilities; conduct PE programs and a football program that promotes student safety and well-being.

 

·         Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction

 

·         Manage student behavior by establishing and reinforcing rules and procedures

 

·         Maintain discipline in accordance with local policy and state law

 

·         Adhere to the Tennessee Teacher Code of Ethics

 

·         Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress according to school and district policies

 

·         Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings

 

·         Perform all duties with integrity, professionalism, and in compliance with all school, district, state, and federal laws/policies.

 

·         Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities

 

As head football coach, abide by TSSAA policies and guidelines. Use the position of HC as an opportunity to build character in addition to skill.

Education, Skills, and Abilities

·         Minimum of bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

·         Tennessee Teacher License/Certification in appropriate subject/grade

·         Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues

·         Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing

·         Understanding of TEAM Evaluation Model
